Hello! I am Misty Beesley, owner, founder, and midwife for Salt Lake Midwifery. I was drawn to midwifery after the birth of my first child 13 years ago. I was sure there had to be a better way to feel supported and connected as a new parent, and through my research, came to learn about homebirth and the midwifery model of care. Like a moth to a flame, I pursued midwifery in the years that followed. My experience and education formed a path that included doula work, placenta preparations, lactation, and holistic midwifery.
I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), Licensed Direct Entry Midwife (LDEM), and IBCLC. I have worked with multiple midwifery practices and birth centers in California and Utah but ultimately landed on creating a slower paced, intentional, community midwifery practice here in Utah. Salt Lake Midwifery strives to maintain focus on establishing connected and trusting relationships with clients while providing safe, collaborative, and highly skilled care. I also strive to create connections for my clients as desired, so that we can parent with a village.
My family is greatly important to me, which is why I maintain a small group of clients at any time. My people are my people, whether my own children, close friends, or my clients! I hope everyone in my life can feel how much I value them and our relationship.
When I am not with my clients, I am hanging out with my family which includes my partner, Danny, and our four children, Claire (13), Oliver(8), August(6), and Eleanor(2).
